Poker films

The number of poker fans does not stop growing and everyday are more the ones that play it online or offline. Film producers are aware of this trend and that is why poker related movies do not stop appearing. However, even though this tendency is more obvious nowadays, with the production of big films like Casino Royale and Ocean’s eleven among many others, poker theme movies are not new in the cinema history.
The first good example of a poker themed movie dates back to 1965, with the release of “The Cincinnati kid”, whose success marked the beginning of a new movement. However, we will have to wait till 1998 to see another movie that matched the high quality of the previous one. This movie was “Ronders” played by Matt Damon and Edward Norton.
Taking into consideration the great number of poker themed movies in the last years it seem clear that as long as there are poker fans, there will be poker movies.
